This is my army buddies graduation photo that truly inspires me!

Now that I have everything updated as of tonight, I am going to end it here and promise to write another entry tomorrow night before going to bed.
The following is a post that I wrote about a week ago while at work.

Today I woke up at 7am feeling tired still, but i pushed myself out of bed and in the shower. Have to say that self determination is the key to everything no matter what and it is exactly what keeps me going. Every time i feel like quitting or feel like I don't have enough energy, all that i need to do is remind myself of the prize and look at my army buddies BMQ**basic military qualification** graduation photo. It is sitting as my desktop photo and motivates me all the time. Right now he is overseas on a tour and is serving our country proudly. This is exactly what I aspire for each and everyday!

You always have to keep your eye on the prize to remind yourself of where you came from and where you are going!

One thing that I have learned in the last 8 months is that what you put out into the universe you get back in return. Positive energy and self motivation mixed with some inspiration in the form of a picture or object is what keeps you on track. Before I thought that all this stuff was not true and never worked, but I thought hell why not and gave it a try. This is called the Law of Attraction my friends!

Right now I am sitting at work writing this between calls, as it is something I really enjoy doing and it helps the time pass much faster.
The following is a post that I wrote about a week ago while at work.

Well it is a Monday morning and I am sitting here at work. It is my second week on the job and the people I work with are really nice. There is this one person I connected with on my first day. We sometimes go for lunch across the street. Thankfully she is a non smoker!

Have to say that it is always comforting to find that one person you can have good conversations with, especially when you are new on the job!

The job i currently have is in Sales for a Merchant Services Brokerage firm.

Just came home after being at the gym for the 2x today. Getting into this routien is amazing for the body, but at first it kills and you are super tired.

All I need to do is get enough sleep each and every night and I shall be set.

On that note, I am calling it an early night and will sleep till 6am, then wake up to go to the gym again!

Till next time guys, STAY TUNED!!!

So, I have started a new workout regime which involves me waking up very early in the morning before work and going to the gym for about an hour and then after work doing the same thing, but working out for 2 hours approximately. All this is very important to me as the routine is what I am after.

In the army they do PT in the morning and at night too, so why not get into the swing of things, this way when BMQ comes up I will pass it with ease. Anyways, the gym and everything as really tired me out and do not really seem to have time for anything else these days. Just as long as things go as planned and I graduate this will all have been for a reason.

Have to say that working out is the best thing you can do for your body. It is very rewarding, because you can see the results yourself. Everyone should try to do some activity in their life no matter if it is just some walking like 30min a day and if you have a gym close to your place take an hour to burn some energy. Your body will love you for it and when you grow old you will be in good shape and health!

Anyways, I am signing off for the night as there is laundry to be attended to and lunch made for work tomorrow.

Here is a fully detailed description of the trade which I will be going for in the Canadian Armed Forces.

Infantry Solider

Each Infantry solder belongs to one of the Infantry regiments of the Canadian Army, some of which bear battle honors more than a century old. As the Army's primary war-fighters and the core of the Combat Arms team, Infantry Soldiers are responsible for closing with and destroying the enemy. Infantry Soldiers are capable of operating anywhere in the world in any environment known possible to man.

The BMQ **Basic Military Qualification course** is 14 weeks long and takes place in Quebec, Canada. After graduation of basic the infantry solider then moves onto their MOC **Military Occupational Course** where they learn everything there is to know about their trade.

Even after all this training there is even advanced training the solider can take.

Well there was a little bit about the trade I am going for. In closing I would like to pose a question to you all.

If you were called to duty for your country, could you do this job and why? Or, would you select something different?
Well today I was back at the gym and had a great time. Last night was a night off for me from all this and it was well enjoyed.

As usual tonigth before the gym I took my protein drink and after the same thing with a salad. Really wish the weather would be nicer outside so running outside would be much easier. Sometimes I feel that running on a treadmill gets boring, but hey it has to be done!

Tonight is going to be a very restful night so when the time comes tomorrow I will be able to get going at the gym and do a very hard workout.

Anyways guys, this is it and I shall post another log tomorrow night around the same time. Till then have a great evening!

Thursday, February 4, 2010

Hey there, guys and girls! I am back again with another installment tonight.

First I would like to start off by saying that physical fitness for the army is all about CARDIO. No one can ever do enough CARDIO to prepare for the army. As it is right now I go to the gym 6 days a week and run 45min to 1 hour everyday after my workout.

For example, today I went to the gym and did my weight training **HYPERTROPHY** for about 1 hour with some rest between workout routines. After which, there was a resting period of about 10minutes while I ate 3 kiwi's and drank a Redbull. Yeah yeah, I know your going to say that it is bad for the Redbull, but it really helps me to go that extra distance. ***IF ANYONE KNOWS OF SOME NATURAL WAYS WITHOUT THE REDBULL, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO LEAVE SOME COMMENTS** So, after eating and drinking I do my run. After the running comes the chin-ups and there is several of them to be done. As it is right now, I can do 5 to 6 chin-ups on my own, but for the remainder, the chin-up machine helps me. This machine is really useful to build up your strength of your upper body so you are able to do the chin-ups on your own. And finally I complete my workout with a 10minute stretching session, which is very important to do if you want your muscles to feel good after!

One last thing that I forgot to mention is protein shake before working out and one right after, because this helps your muscles get bigger.....instead of having to eat a ton of food that has protein in it.

Anyways, this is a typical day for me when working out. Tomorrow I am only concentrating on CARDIO. So, I shall all wish you a good night and want you to be looking forward to my entry tomorrow night. I am going to talk a little about the actual training that goes on for the trade which I am going for in the army.

Hey guys! My name is James and I am sharing my experience of preparing for the army with you through this blog. It is the first blog that I have ever made and really hope that this may inspire some of you to go ahead and follow your dreams. The military is something I have always aspired to join and took the first step in the application process on June 30, 2009. So, as of now it has taken 7 months and still going.

In late August they administered the standard military aptitude test to me and I qualified for all my trade choices which are infantry solider, combat engineer and communications. Following this test I was given an appointment for the medical testing which was 1 month after my aptitude test.

Now that those 2 steps have been complete, all I am waiting for is for the training courses to open up in the mid spring or early summer and I am off! They save the interview and swearing in ceremony until the very end, so everything happens so fast! It is pretty close to the 2 month mark where I may end up going off for my BMQ course.**Basic Military Qualification course**

As it is now, all I am left to do is make sure that I am physically prepared for what lays ahead of me. On this note I am going to end my blog here and you can all expect another one tomorrow!
